Possible services are below.
Meeting with you to connect for 30 minutes is essential to understand your needs and where you're coming from. Here not only do I learn about you and your resources but I also provide you the same and how I think I can help you benefit in our Nutrition Journey.
In this visit we will cover your medical history including medications, nutrition history, medical needs, goals, strengths, typical day to name a few. Upon learning as much as I can about you and your goals in the first 30 minutes of this session, we will spend the next 30 minutes helping you to build a program that works with you already while strategizing towards your goals. Total 60 minute session.
***Includes an appropriate Physical (Remote with questions) Assessment, Medical, Nutritional and Sleep History, Injury History, Allergies, Activity, Daily Schedule Review, Suggestions/Creative Behavior Modifications/Snack and Meal Ideas/ Timing Coaching-- This is a pay as you go service.
If you choose this program service it will include that 60-minute initial consultation (see above for details) with a follow-up also 60 minutes. In follow-up sessions, it's essential to recap how everything went from the initial visit. From there we troubleshoot to see what worked and what didn't while always keeping in mind your medical needs, nutrition goals, and lifestyle resources.
The point of Nutrition Programming (4 X 1 hour sessions) is to consistently provide the nutritional and coaching support that is needed for successful behavioral and health changes.
***Includes the initial consultation. (see above for details)
***Weekly text/message question/support (3 each week).
***Access to a HIPAA-compliant Electronic Medical Record and online health portal with unlimited review (from myself) of your food/mood/activity journal. This is also analyzed to examine your actual food and nutrient distribution from your food intake.
***Continued 'practice' and 'coaching' of the plan that we came up with together. Can of course also include any family/support needed. The overall time spent as a whole would not change for this program but time can be divided amongst others in the household. Will need to use some of that time to do a proper assessment of each person being seen though if their nutritional information is to be assessed.
***You will receive notes via email and through the health portal (Practice Better). *You have 2 months to use this program if need be.
Everything is available as in Option 1. However, 8 visits are purchased with the extensive support as mentioned above and you will have 3 months to use these visits.
Dr. Darr has over 15 years of experience in the field of Nutrition as a Registered Dietitian and Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics with experience at the Olympic, DI, DII, and DIII levels. She is also currently an Associate Professor in Kinesiology at SVSU. She completed her BS in Dietetics from Michigan State University, and her MS and PhD in Exercise Science both from the University at Buffalo. Dr. Darr has been an instructor and mentor to student-athletes and both undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Exercise Science, Nutrition, and Health. Her clinical experience working with patients of all ages dates back to Buffalo, NY which started in 2006.
Dr. Darr also started SVSU Sports Nutrition in 2015 and continues to nutritionally counsel athletes on a weekly basis there. Her love for Sports Nutrition reaches back to the long country summers living on a dirt road with a large backyard where she would try to prepare for upcoming seasons in middle school and high school. There she'd wake up early eating a healthy breakfast then getting to work on improving her physical skills and conditioning for her sports. She had no idea then that, that love and beginning understanding of the field would also become her lifelong passion that she would be able to share with so many others. Fueling the mind body and soul with a focus on sleep, nutrition, hydration, and timing for optimal performance on and off the field always was and is still the goal!
